In the middle of my own range of sleepless nights, just because even previously 'champion-sleepers,' as you put it, who don't have medical problems still wear their mothers out by forgetting how to eat and sleep like they used to. And your words reasonate and remind me to pray for you four even more than we already do. And to ask a very mundane question - could Ethan be teething? our hobbit just popped two out so I'm hoping he'll turn a corner and night will become our friend again....

you are an amazing writer and your story takes me back 23 years ago to my own NICU baby experience. Each day filled with coercing info from the docs, not insulting the nurses since they really knew what was going on, trying my damnedest to pump out a few more cc's of precious breast milk that refused to come so that maybe my preemie with the head bleed, mild ROP and rotavirus diarrhea might someday get out of the NICU. I remember begging to take leave from my path residency as I snoozed on the oculars during sign out since I had not slept more than two consecutive hours in the year after he was born since I couldn't imagine a nanny handling my not yet 4 pound baby on an apnea monitor when he finally did get out of the unit. I did get my four weeks off to spend with him. After many more hospitalizations he finally did get to stay home and grow. And after lots of extra therapists, counsellors and prayers he's nearly graduated from college this month. My prayer for you is that your gorgeous, special boy will amazed you, too with his strength and resilience and you will have as many wonderful, jam packed years with your boy as we have had with ours. I hope you will join me in prayerfully rejoicing that his sweet, plastic young brain will have absolutely no sequelae from those 19 long minutes on cross clamp. I hope you have whatever rocking recliner you need so the both of you can sleep soundly with him in his Boba comfort zone. I pray your family will give you as much support as you need without being overbearing and that Phil has fulfilling work that reassures you of God's perfect provision. We pray for you all everyday. Thanks for your wonderful updates. [[[

Such a mother's heart. My heart goes out to you and I am continuing to pray for you and your son and whole family. God is good, but we do not always understand His ways.

God Bless your little man and you.yes, you are a strong, loving Mother.although you aren't sure where your strength is coming from just looking at his sweet little face is everything God wraps his loving, healing arms around you and Ethan so that you are able to function with little or no sleep. God Bless you always.

So brave. Incredibly brave. All the love in the world to you, from another mom of a 5-month-old.
